A partial expungement is an expungement that occurs at the end of a deferred sentence, if you are successful with your probation. This removes the case from OSCN, making it harder for people to find, but the arrest record will remain and it will still show up on background checks.

A full expungement completely removes the history of the case as well as your arrest record. It will not appear on most background checks and you are legally allowed to say the case didn’t occur. This is what you receive when you apply for an expungement, rather than receive one as part of the plea agreement (i.e. deferred sentence).

A pardon restores the rights you lost when you were convicted of a felony. This can include your right to vote, your right to serve on a jury, and your gun rights. It does not remove your arrest record or your conviction, that is an expungement.

A pardon takes much longer than an expungement, but also can vary. You should expect to spend about a year on your pardon before it is granted.
